ACADAMIC
COMMITTEE
An
Academic Committee actively functions in the college
to internalise and institutionalise excellence in all
disciplines. The committee consists of the Principal
as Chairman, a teacher-convener, elected representatives
of the teaching staff to the College Council and the
Heads of Departments. The Academic Committee prepares
the academic calendar and supervises the day-to-day
academic functions of the collegec. It also monitors
termwise completion of syllabus in every discipline.
The
college Academic Committee streamlines and synthesizes
systematically the functioning , the overall development
and the data collection for total academic planning.
The committee meets at least once in every term to scrutinize
and examine the academic activities and to carry out
the concomitant monitoring of the system. The tentative
dates for submission of teaching plan, assignments,
seminars, test papers, interdisciplinary seminars, midterm
examination, model examination, class wise PTA meeting
etc are included in academic calendar. |

MORNING
PRAYERS AND CLASS HOURS
Before the comencement of classes in the morning, the
‘Daiva Dasakam’(prayer of humanity) is played
on the public address system. Staff and students stand
in reverential silence during its soothing and melodious
rendering.
The college works under the full day system with two
sessions. In between the two sessions there will be
a noon interval of forty five minutes from 1 pm to 1.45
pm. Besides lecture classes, there will be Seminars,
Tutorials, Group discussions and Counselling.
ATTENDANCE
1 The teacher will mark attendance at the beginning
of the period.
2 A student who is not in the class when the attendance
is taken shall be marked absent.
3 A teacher shall however mark a student coming late
present after dealing with him/her as he/she thinks
fit.
4 At the end of each term or at the beginning of the
following term, a list will be put up on the general
Notice Board, showing the number of days of attendance
lost by each student till then.
5 Absence from class for an hour will be considered
as absence for the concerned session.
6 The Annual Certificate for Attendance and Progress
required for promotion and for admission to the University
Examination will not be granted unless-
a. The student has atleast 75% of the attendance prescribed
by the University
for the course.
b. The student has completed the course of instruction
to the satisfaction of
the authorities.
c. His/her progress in studies and conduct has been
satisfactory.
7 Students whose attendance falls below the prescribed
minimum shall apply for exemption through the Principal.
The application in the prescribed form shall be accompanied
by a chalan receipt for Rs.50/- upto 20 days and Rs.30/-
upto 10 days. Exemption will not be granted by the University,
if the shortage of attendance exceeds 22 days. No exemption
will be granted more than once during a course. No application
for exemption will be recommended more than once during
a course. No application for exemption will be recomended
by the Principal unless he/she is satisfied that the
shortage of attendance was due to a cause beyond the
students control. Ordinarily, long continued illness
will be accepted as a plea for shortage of attendance.
Absence without leave application will not be condoned
under any circumstances.
TUTORIAL SYSTEM
With a view to comprehensively improving the all-round
performance of the student and providing greater opportunities
for personal rapport between the teacher and the taught,
the tutorial system has been introduced. Students of
the college will be grouped into batches of about twentyfive
and each group will be under the charge of a member
of the staff, designed as “Group Tutor”.
Each group tutor will regularly advice them on avenues
of academic improvement.
Leave of absence of students will be granted only if
the application is recommended and forwarded by the
Group Tutor. No Conduct Certificate will ordinarily
be issued to a student except on the recommendation
of the group Tutor. The college level convenor of the
