The department was established in 1964 and it has a faculty of two teachers having adequate competency to handle sports activities necessary to satisfy the needs of students. One member is a Ph D holder and other is an M Phil holder. A minor research project has been sanctioned by UGC in favour of one faculty member under Xth plan period. Training programs are given to the students who are interested in sports and games and selecting them to participate in various tournaments. Our college has been selected for the award of the G V Raja trophy for the best performing college of Kerala University which secured 258 points over all in all the sports and games activities together during the year 2005-06 and consecutively for the second year.
